Press Release: Fight against pipeline proposals in the Midwest will continue with Dakota Access Pipeline and Upland Pipeline
Iowa Utilities Board hearings will be held Nov 12 – Dec 3
Beginning Thursday, Nov. 12, the Science & Environmental Health Network will be amongst the many voices from coalitions, community groups, and citizens in Iowa calling for decision makers to consider future generations.
A lawyer will present testimony opposing a large, crude oil pipeline that will cross the Heartland. Members of the Bakken Pipeline Resistance Coalition, the Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement, students, landowners and community representatives have filed written testimony to the Iowa Utilities Board opposing the project. This hearing is important because the Bakken Pipeline is designed to replace Keystone XL (read more about this in the Press Release).
It is also unique because, for the first time, future generations will be represented in an executive branch hearing. SEHN has been granted intervenor status to intervene on behalf of future generations.
